Testimonials

Mark, you are one of the most important things to happen to our family this year! Thank you for helping our daughter succeed in SAT Math.
— Alpidia, parent of a Math and SAT Prep student
Mark spoke to me like person, not a student. It really helped me learn a lot.
— Ben, student of Math, Chemistry, SAT Prep
My friend (also one of Mark’s students) and I were relaxed and joking with one another before the Chemistry final about how you were ‘an angel on our shoulders’ for the big test.
— Maggie, student of Honors Chemistry
We love Mark. He has been a perfect match for my young teenage son. He gets “guidance “ in Math and Guitar. Mark is gentle, yet effective. He holds him accountable for his own active role in the learning process. He allows him the space to figure things out and come to the table for what he needs. He doesn’t push or force, he allows my son to decide what and how he needs to proceed to meet his personal goals. They always have a great time, especially with music. Mark has his own expertise to offer, as well as experience and wisdom to pass on to growing developing minds. Community is very important to me, Mark has that kind of mindset. The kids are not pupils or students, they are young human beings in need of a guide. We all need guides in our lives, especially as young people growing in this world today
— Larraine, parent of Math, Physics, Chemistry and Music students
Mark has been my son’s tutor, a junior at Analy, for math and chemistry for this whole school year. He has been an excellent tutor/teacher to my son, as well as a mentor. He is always available to discuss concerns I have and my son’s progress with me. He even met with his math teacher, early in the year to better understand his teaching philosophy and how he conducts his class. My son is an athlete who has a difficult schedule to work around, but Mark worked hard to accommodate him. Mark has the option of in-person or virtual sessions, which were great for my son and he used both about equally. Amazingly enough, Mark also encouraged my son, to call him with any additional questions after sessions. I can’t rave enough about Mark’s skill as a tutor and the relationship he has fostered with my son
— Lisa, parent of a Chemistry student
My daughter is a student at Analy and has been working with Mark for several months for Chemistry help. He has been a big help for her in terms of understanding, but also boosting her confidence. She enjoys her time with Mark and always comes away with a deeper understanding and more tools to help her continue to be a proficient student. I highly recommend Mark, he teaches in a very wholistic, engaging way.
— Whitney, parent of Chemistry and SAT Prep student
I’m doing college math right now. After working with a few tutors with no success, I started working with Mark. He’s been very helpful to me as far making sure that I understand everything we’re doing before moving on. I like the fact that he is also very patient. He is a great tutor.
— Margaret, college student, Applied Mathematics

Resume

B.S. Electrical Engineering, MBA

I started my professional career as an educational engineer with Cisco Systems where I wrote courses and taught classes on technology, in both live and virtual settings, all over the world.

In 2015, after my daughter Sunny was born, I stepped away from the bustling corporate world and began to focus on my ability to connect with students by teaching and tutoring independently.

I now offer over 20 years of experience in helping students build their interest, understanding and confidence in Math, Science and Music. I help students shape themselves into resilient learners and creative problem solvers.
